OpenDaylight is the leading open source SDN controller and an Integrated Framework for NFV Management. It is a modular open platform for customizing and automating networks of any size and scale and provides support for a variety of applications and use cases. It currently supports two dimensions of deployments: (1) direct control of virtual switches to provide network virtualization and NFV orchestration; (2) management of existing networks to provide automation of network configuration and operation. The talk will also cover trends in open SDN ecosystem & cloud networking like microservices, containers, AI/ML, etc. and how OpenDaylight can evolve to cover new areas. Beyond OpenStack networking for VMs – latest releases also integrate Kubernetes with OpenDaylight and enables Kubernetes to leverage OpenDaylight network models.
