With the advent of Edge Computing and 5G, networks and applications can be no more be treated in isolation. This panel is focused on collaboration of several key open source efforts such as ONAP, Cloud Native Kubernetes, Mobile TIP Edge Application Developer Project Group and MobiledgeX with LF Edge Umbrella project Akraino Edge Stack. The goal of this collaboration is to deliver next-generation value-added end-to-end services comprising of application and network services with stringent SLAs such as low-latency for apps such as live 4K video transcoding etc. using VNFs such as 5G UPF, 4G LTE SGW/PGW etc. This panel also elaborates on the current state of these open source efforts and future roadmap/architectural direction towards this collaborative goal.
