Great code sells itself, right? Well….Marketing is essential to every product - especially if your core competition are multibillion dollar companies. So how do you market open source - a product (yes, it’s a product) that might not have a company backing its strategy, and in most cases has very tight budgets?Working with the Drupal community, Rebecca organized a global open source marketing initiative that created a format for collaboration among a not-so-obvious part of the open source community - the marketers - working across competition and continents to ensure a united and consistent brand. She’ll share how a successful open source project has structured the collaborative format for marketers to participate, creating a world-wide marketing effort on a shoe-string budget. Rebecca will share how it keeps moving, what’s working really well, and where there are potential pitfalls - so that other projects might benefit from what’s been accomplished and where they’ve gone wrong.
