Much of today’s work on networking crosses boundaries of organizations that specify or build the technology. Dependencies exist between open source components, standards and implementations developed in parallel by different organizations. Working across multiple large simultaneous projects is naturally difficult, and it is not always easy to understand what technologies are available, why certain design choices are being made, or to find ways to effectively impact the developments in an ecosystem. What can be done do to increase the understanding of what is happening in different places, increase communication, and facilitate better ways of working together across the ecosystem? This session begins with short presentation by each of the speakers on experiences, gaps, and challenges working within this ecosystem, followed by an open discussion focusing on practical information exchange among contributors and users of projects and technologies across this ecosystem. This session is meant to foster a larger and ongoing discussion aimed at improving collaboration among different open source communities and standards organizations.
