First 5G trials are happening right now. 5G standards will be completed in 2018. In the near future we will see self-driving cars, VR/AR applications and M2M communication becoming part of our everyday life. All this and mission critical applications require extremely low latency mobile networks. In this context NFV is expected to be a game changer and Open Source SW and HW will be a key enabler for 5G and NFV.In this talk we tell what role Open Source NFV components will play in future 5G networks and what kind of Telco use cases exist. We will cover also what is going on in 5G and what is needed to overcome low latency, high data peak rates, M2M communication and massive traffic growth challenges. Realizing all this requires full stack optimization.
