Smart contract performance and debuggability are very important criteria to consider when building mission critical enterprise and public blockchains. In their talk, Vijayendra Bhamidipati and Michael Chan take up Hyperledger Fabric as an example framework to present approaches/ideas towards 1) building instrumentation into the chaincode framework to allow developers to measure the performance of their smart contracts 2) allow for billing to be built into smart contracts 3) building mechanisms that can limit allocation of resources to smart contracts, and 4) building security into blockchain frameworks.
