RAN Virtualization and Mobile Edge Compute are two of the many capabilities 5G purports to provide. However, both these capabilities rely on virtualization of the infrastructure. To address VRAN and MEC requirements how will the virtualization models need to evolve? Will OpenStack, today’s IaaS platform be able to address all the requirements of MEC and VRAN? This presentation will explore answers to some of these questions and propose some infrastructure virtualization models for deployment of MEC and VRAN for 5G. It will discuss the architecture of VRAN and 5G deployment and then look at the deployment of Virtual Machines and Containers to host services for MEC and VRAN
