OpenSDS is an open-source project created to address the storage challenges, particularly in scale-out cloud native environments, with heterogeneous storage platforms. The project promotes the use of simplified storage interfaces using a scalable storage controller architecture with open standard APIs, with the objective of providing application-oriented storage services. As part of its IT infrastructure modernization for cloud, Vodafone is going through a storage transformation adopting Software-Defined Storage (SDS) strategy for their Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) evolution. In this presentation, Steven Tan, Chief Architect for Storage Management and Storage-as-a-Service at Huawei, will be introducing OpenSDS and the storage challenges the project is addressing; and Cosimo Rossetti, Lead Storage Architect at Vodafone will be sharing their software-defined storage strategy, and how they hope to leverage OpenSDS in their storage transformation.
