Over the past four years, there has been a great shift in awareness in businesses and organizations of the need to use data more effectively and for a greater advantage. Yet, many organizations struggle with getting started—which datasets are important, what questions to ask, and how to set up a project and run it. During this time, Pivigo has delivered over 80 five-week data science projects to over 50 organizations from a range of industries (including media, retail, tech, charities, and healthcare), sizes, and age (from large corporates such as KPMG, Royal Mail, Barclays, and M&S to SMEs and two-person startups). What Pivigo has consistently seen is the opportunity that lies in running very short, Agile data science projects for organizations to become data driven in a short period of time. Kim Nilsson shares her experiences, both good and bad, running these projects, covering several case studies of projects completed and offering advice and lessons learned on how to prepare data, how to brainstorm ideas and prioritize them, how to set up a project, and how to recruit a team.
